What Makes Peterson's Lab Lip Care Different ?

Redefining Standards for Lip Care Ingredients

The lips are not simply an extension of facial skin. Their unique structure calls for a different approach to skincare.

Yet, lip care formulations have traditionally borrowed ingredient standards from facial skincare, overlooking a fundamental difference: the lip's stratum corneum is approximately one-third as thick as that of facial skin.

We believe lips deserve standards of their own.

As the pioneering brand partner, Peterson's Lab joined forces with 23 hospital-based lip clinics to establish a dedicated group standard for lip care formulations — setting a new benchmark for ingredient selection, formulation design, and lip-specific care.

Serum-Level Active Ingredients

We believe effective lip care is not about adding more, but about adding what is right.

Inspired by our lip-specific formulation standards, we apply serum-level active ingredients to our lip care formulations — carefully balancing concentration, efficacy, and safety.

Because a higher concentration does not always mean better results. Excessive levels of active ingredients may compromise the delicate lip barrier, potentially leading to further discomfort and concerns.

That's why we focus on finding the right concentration for each active ingredient, creating formulations designed to deliver meaningful benefits while respecting the unique needs of lip skin.

Not more. Not less. Just the right amount for lips.

Multiple Safety Tests

Meeting regulatory requirements is just the starting point. Given the unique nature of lip care, we go further with six additional safety assessments designed specifically for our lip formulations.

From allergen screening and irritation assessments to human patch testing and oral toxicity evaluation, each test serves a purpose: to help ensure our formulations meet the safety considerations that lip care demands.

Six Additional Safety Assessments:

  1. Unnecessary Additive Screening – A formulation approach focused on avoiding unnecessary additives.
  2. 46-Allergen Screening – No detectable levels of the 46 screened allergens.
  3. Chick Embryo Irritation Test – No irritation observed in the chick embryo test.
  4. Immune Cell Sensitization Test – Evaluated for its potential to trigger immune-cell sensitization.
  5. Human Patch Test – Zero adverse reactions observed in the human patch test.
  6. Oral Toxicity Test – Evaluated for oral toxicity to support safety considerations for incidental oral exposure.

Because lip care deserves more than basic compliance. It deserves a higher standard of care.
